VENICE BEACH, CA -- Despite a near disapearance from Hollywood's
fickle radar, former World Wrestling Federation champion Hulk
Hogan continues to wait for the kind of script that will "finally
put the pythons back on the bigscreen" for all his Hulkamaniacs.
Once the star of the short lived action series "Thunder
Bay" and films such as "Mr. Nanny" and "3
Ninjas: High Noon at Space Mountain", the 50-year-old
Hogan has held out on retreading those kinds B-grade action
films, hoping instead he'll land the one great dramatic role
which will bring his career to the next level.
"I cried like a baby when I didn't get "Good Will
Hunting," Hogan says now, his voice still twinged with
incredulity over losing the part of the embattled psychiatrist
to Robin Williams. Even more painful for the ex-Venice Beach
bodybuilder was not even being invited to audition for last
year's "A Beautiful Mind."
"Listen up, brother, the Hulkster doesn't need charity.
He can write his own script. The Hulk's got this great idea
for a movie about arm wrestling. It's just like [Stallone's]
"Over The Top," except it would star me, my two
flesh guns and an estranged son whose trust I need to earn
during a poignant two week roadtrip on our way to the professional
arm wrestling championships in Reno. It's magical."
Despite frequent setbacks, Hogan's agent, Paul Liebowitz
thinks it' s just a matter of time before studios turn their
focus back on ex-wrestlers like Hogan. "Just look at
Travolta. It just takes one movie and maybe some Scientology.
We've already got him signed up."
Former members of the Hulk Hogan fan club aren't so sure,
with many admitting they'd rather see him fade away quietly
to occasional appearances on the PGA celebrity golf circuit
like other stars of his generation.
"When I see the posters of Hulk with the red tights,
the porn star mustache, and that 'baldy mullet' it just reminds
me why I missed prom," explains 29-year-old Justin Hoscroff.
"What would possess a 17 year year old to give himself
a baldy mullet?" Please tell me that. Hulk Hogan stole
my childhood."
