Barnwell, NE - Longtime bachelor Warren Simon is determined
to get married someday but he insists he won't "settle"
like his other friends and will hold out until he finally
finds the girl of his dreams.
"I want someone more like Evangelion or Gaogaigar's
Lune Cardiff or my favorite, Yozuki, the chic warrior-droid
in the animé series, "Manga Muff," Simon
said. "Unfortunately, none of the girls in my town are
even remotely like her."
Simon, 29, admits that he's a bit of a loner and it's hard
to date a diverse group of women the small town of Barnwell,
pop. 1750, but he has driven as far as Lincoln, and still
he hasn't quite found anyone even in the ballpark of what
he's looking for.
"Yozuki is so sweet and she's got those huge brown eyes
that just make you want to spend the whole day telling her
it's okay to be a strong independent gun-toting half-alien,"
Simon said. "There must be someone in Nebraska like her."
Simon, a mortgage broker and avid fan of Japanese animé,
has dozens of pinups of what he considers perfect women adorning
his cubicle and even has a screen saver of all Konami's Chobits,
along with Kaleido Star, Nadesico, and Hello Kitty.
"It's just a reminder for me. A daily reminder that
there's someone out there that's a perfect match. Someone
with soft skin and a giant head and exaggerated features if
I'm lucky. But that's not a requirement. If she's got a great
personality, that would be okay I guess."
Simon says lately he has been giving a great deal of thought
to moving to Japan, where he feels he has a better chance
of meeting the girl of his dreams.
"Right now I'm being realistic and focusing on learning
the language and taking a lot of art lessons. You know, just
in case."
