LOS ANGELES, CAActor and recording artist Corey
Feldman announced at a press conference Tuesday he may take
an extended break from his showbiz career in order to spend
more time with family.
Feldman, 31, is unmarried, has no kids and has been estranged
from his parents and siblings since he was 15, but feels strongly
that the Lopez family of Van Nuys, CA is falling apart and
are in drastic need of a male role model.
"Corey would never do anything to upset his fans, but
at this time he feels spending time with family is a much
greater priority than being a movie star and singer,"
explained publicist Donna Hatfield.
The announcement came just weeks after Feldman released his
second studio album, "Michael Jackson is my Bitch"
and plans for his upcoming tour has been put on hold while
Feldman is tending to the needs of Maria Lopez and her two
children.
"I love acting and singing more than anything in the
world," Feldman said."But right now Miguel and little
Pedro need me so I'm going to focus my energies on the children."
Feldman, star of such Hollywood blockbusters as "Goonies,"
"Stand By Me" and "Meatballs 4" explains
he has purposely taken on a shorter schedule during the past
few years because he was busy attending Pedro's soccer games
and Miguel's felony hearings while Maria, 52, works the graveyard
shift sewing in a downtown mattress factory.
"Until Maria's husband is given his immigration papers
and allowed to work in this country, I will not consider making
any reunion movies with Corey Haim."
Corey Haim could not be reached for comment.
